Jackie gets hot with ‘Murder 2’

Sri Lankan model Jacqueline Fernandez’s in a powerful and brave role playing opposite
Ashmit Patel, in ‘Murder 2’ a Hindi movie which is now being screened at the newly built state -of-the art theatre “Liberty Lite” Colombo 3.

Replacing hot Mallika Sherwat in the 2004 super hit Hindi movie ‘Murder’, Jacqueline Fernandez who was famous for simple and innocent roles in ‘Alladin’ and other films, heated up the Bollywood cinema with her bold scenes in Murder 2.

Directed by Mohit Suri to the production of Mahesh Bhatt this romantic and bold thriller tells the story of Simran (Jacqueline) a lonely wife who rekindles her old love. Simran is married to Sudhir (Ashmit Patel) but due to her lonely married life she gets into an affair with her college time lover Sunny (Emraan Hashmi), whom she accidentally meets after marriage, and when Sunny (Emraan Hashmi), is murdered, she is wrongfully accused, when it is actually someone else who has committed the murder.

Acting in ‘Murder 2’ Jacqueline accepted to play the lead role when Bipasha Basu refused to do Mallika Sherawat. Commenting on Jacqueline’s bold decision to play in the movie and the subsequent outcome, the filmmaker said that Jacqueline had done a great job in making the movie so real and creating the furious effects in the minds of millions.

Releasing parallel to the international release, ‘Liberty Lite’, started screening ‘Murder 2’ from July 8 four shows daily.

Owned and managed by Movie Works Pvt Ltd and located at the Liberty Cinema building, in the heart of Colombo, ‘Liberty Lite’ consists of 140 reclining fabric seats and is equipped with 35mm Cinematography Equipment, DTS (multichannel audio technology) and Dolby digital theatre sound systems (data and audio compression technologies), which provides the movie lovers with ultimate viewing pleasure.

A Movie to commemorate French Revolution

Commemorating the French Revolution, the Alliance Francaise de Colombo screens ‘L’Anglaise et le Duc’- The Lady and the Duke directed by Eric Rohmer. The film narrates that during the French Revolution, a Scottish aristocrat and her former lover, the Duke of Orleans, find themselves on opposite sides of the conflict.

It is an episodic look at Grace Elliott (1760-1823) and Philippe, the Duke of Orleans, during the French Revolution. In 1790, they are friends, no longer lovers. He suggests she leaves France, she warns him to quit the Revolution. In 1792, she must escape Paris on foot. Less than a month later, she returns on an errand of mercy and shows great courage saving the governor of Tuileries. The Duke in turn steps in to protect Grace. In early 1793, she demands a promise from the Duke that he votes to spare Louis’s life; he does not, and Grace is furious..

‘L’Anglaise et le Duc’ will be screend at 3 pm on July 12 and at 6.30 pm on July 13 at Alliance Francaise de Colombo.
