‘Paradise Kandy’: haven in the hills

With the tourism boom in the country, Kandy has transformed into a destination status since lately, from just two nights stop over city of the traditional around trips. Visitors from overseas generally stay in Kandy for five to seven days now as it has more to offer in leisure and adventure activities for the people.
‘We have to sustain this senario and work into a more traveller friendly destination’ said Sanjeeva Gunathilleke, the Director of the ‘Paradise Island Leisure’, the owning company of ‘Paradise Kandy’.

Nested in the Richmond Hill Estate in Heerassalaga Mountain, ‘Paradise Kandy’ is a boutique Villa with the best and the most fascinating view from the Heerassagala range. ‘Paradise Kandy’ is about the best that one could experience in Kandy. Seclusion, Space and Privacy, the Villa offers the ideal choice for the visitor when holidaying in Kandy.

Built in a serene, natural background with excellent views over the Hantane range, ‘Paradise Kandy’ offers a perfect location to spend a comfortable holiday while only being a short distance away from some of the top attractions in the hills.

‘We are just three km away from the city centre and about five km away from Getamba from the other side of the mountain’ he said. The Villa has five elegantly designed bedrooms including a suite on the top floor with all modern facilities. This bungalow can accommodate up to 12 persons. Though it is a modern day bungalow, it was designed in par with the Colonial type with two spacious and comfortable sitting rooms, a dining area and open TV room with ‘meda midula’. The suite boasts of double size king bed with Kandyan style paintings.

Starting its operation in last April, ‘Paradise Kandy’ is more keen on personalized service with its unique cuisine range in the hills. ‘I always believe in very personalized service. Since we can go up to 12 guests, we strongly emphasis on the personalized and homely service. Looking after their interest and keeping them happy is our motto’ Sanjeeva explained.

‘Paradise Kandy’ is specialized in Sri Lankan cuisine and offers arrange of Western and Continental dishes according to the guest requests. ‘The cook and our kitchen team are capable of handling any type of meals and guest requirements. The three member team at the Paradise Villa provides the best service. BBQ in the jungle or at the Valley by the Hantane is popular mainly with the foreign guests’ added Sanjeeva.

‘We offer mountain biking, jungle trekking and camping at a nearby place overlooking Hantana Mountains on request’ he said. The adventure trekking programmes are divided in to many sections like half day programmes, day programmes, Tea Trekking Safari programme and camping.

Day Programmes are mean to explore a virgin jungle, Dunumadallewa, and have a picnic breakfast in the jungle. Afterwards, cut across to the Hantana Mountain Range which reaches an elevation of 3,800 feet and has amazing 360° views.

‘A trek to Uragala Mountain Range and cross along the cliff of Hanthana through a virgin jungle is also very popular’. The price ranges from Rs 7500/- to Rs. 9000/- per room on BB basis at the ‘Paradise Kandy’.

‘We give the whole Villa for Rs. 25, 000/- (or US$ 250) on BB basis’ Sanjeeva said. ‘Paradise Island Leisure’ has three more Villas in Halbarawa, Kurunegala and in Kalpitiya.
