Funday Times - A Poem for the week

Dawn

By Shabeeha Raushad, St. Paul’s Girls’ School, Milagiriya

The first beams of sunshine,
Hinting at the beginning of a new day,
Creep out slowly,
After a long, dark night.

The lazy ones still snore in bed,
While only a few see,
The hidden beauty of dawn,
As the world wakes up with you.

The birds leave the safety of their homes,
Looking forward to a busy day,
A slow morning breeze blows along,
Giving life to all it touches.

The message which,
The break of dawn seems to sing to us,
Is “Keep sleeping if you want to dream,
But wake up if you want them to come true”.
