CIMA Malaysia hosts A/L top rankers

Three top rankers from the commerce stream and a few district rankers at the last Advanced Level examination were taken on a familiarisation tour to Malaysia, facilitated by CIMA, The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Sri Lanka division together with Vidudeya Publications.

The Island's top 3 rankers in the commerce stream Aloka Wanamali from Kuliyapitya Central College, Bineshka Deshani from Devi Balika Vidyalaya Colombo and Wathsala Rasangika from Vishaka Vidyalaya Colombo together with students from Vishaka Vidyalaya Colombo, D.S.Senanayake College Ampara, were the five students who got the opportunity to be a part of this exchange education programme organized to expose the island's best to the international business world.

Speaking on the inaugural programme of this nature arranged by CIMA, Regional Director for South Asia and Middle East Mr. Bradley Emerson said "It is a great initiative by an A/L tuition college to recognize not by mere financial benefits but to expose the students to the realities of global business. Initiatives such as this challenges the comfort zones of children and bring them close to reality. I congratulate Mr.Prasanna Wedanda of the Centre for Management & Vidudeya Publications on this programme and hope he will continue to provide similar exposure to children in the near future."

The team visited the University of Technology MARA which is a national university in Malaysia and studied the systems implemented in the administration and commerce department of the University.

While studying the system of Malaysian education and economic principles, they paid a visit to the proton motor vehicle manufacturing company to get an idea of the production process. The students were also taken on a familiarisation programme to the CIMA office in Malaysia who coordinated and arranged the tour.
