Dilly's "Fashion with Intelligence"

We have just one planet to live, love and laugh on.... and on 5th June, World Environment Day reminds us just how important it is to start with anything small that you can do for the earth. Here at Dilly's we celebrating the goodness of mother earth takes a truly Sri Lankan meaning, as our inspiration for the celebration comes from our long standing love for nature as people.

Dilly's is known to be a fashion store that not only show cases fashion, but fashion with intelligence. This time we were inspired by this concept to protect, grow and conserve Mother Nature.

We celebrated World Environment day by conducting an urban agriculture workshop for all our customers on the 11th of June at Dilly's Distinct- Bullers Road by our expert, Dr. Manel Dasanayake of the Plant Virus Indexing Centre, Homagama. The purpose of this workshop was to educate our customers about the importance of planting, ways to protect the earth from wasteful destruction and also how it can help to soothe your mind in the stressful city where space is small and time is rare. We were inspired by this concept because you can grow your plant in your balcony or backyard, using recycled materials as a base and reap the benefits of planting, since plants can also be used as a form of pet therapy as it can reduce stress at the same time. After all, the satisfaction you get, to see, that very first fruit of your labour flourishing under your own green fingers is beyond words.

We believe that every tree makes a difference. Every person who plants a tree also makes a difference. It is easier than you think to do your part in the endeavour to be green. We also launched a range of T-shirts specially designed for World environment day taking inspiration from our beautiful impressions of Sri Lanka's love for nature, and the life-giving tree.
