Education

Parents/Students: Do you know what you are getting?

This is an open notice, for those spending or planning to spend their hard-earned money on their children's' higher education. We wish to draw your attention to a few important points you need to consider.

Degree Programmes at IIHE
IIHE is an institute where from the day of enrolment to graduation, students come under the direct purview of the degree-awarding university, the University of Wales. Hence the programme is well integrated: subject areas are thoroughly covered from fundamental to advanced stages, while students also learn to link to other disciplines. This contributes towards the rapid progress from a student into a professional and aids the acquisition of holistic knowledge.

Unless there is a direct association with the degree-awarding university, the qualification is not recognized in the same stature as the degree awarded from the original university.

BSc (Hon) vs. BA (Hon):
A BSc will focus strictly on the subject matter. i.e - if it is management, all subjects will ensure that the student is well-learned in the entire width and breadth of the management discipline. A BSc will not focus on non-related subjects such as Geography, History, etc.
A BSc will have vertical (from stage to stage) and horizontal (relationship of one subject to the other, i.e. Marketing to Economics) integration throughout.

Entry requirements:
Two A-Level passes are the basic pre-requisites to commence a British degree.

Fees:
At IIHE we believe in complete transparency with regard to payments. Hence the entire fee schedule is disclosed to the students and their parents upfront. There are no hidden charges beyond this schedule.
Most importantly, the fees applicable at the point of registration will remain the same until the student graduates. We will not revise any fees of students after enrolment.

The Institution:
IIHE is one of the oldest private tertiary education institutions in the country. We have been awarding BSc degrees from the University of Wales since 1996.
The faculty is assessed and approved by the UoW as part of their Quality Assurance measures, and as a result of the direct affiliation with the UoW. A panel from UoW does frequent visits to Sri Lanka, in which IIHE is carefully examined to ensure that the highest quality in education is being maintained always. Students of IIHE receive the identical qualification to a student in the UK.

Integrating with the country's vision:
The President has a vision of making Sri Lanka the "Knowledge Hub of Asia". In order that this is realized, we need to build a future based on knowledge acquisition. Hence it is extremely important that there is consistency in the standard of education and systems are put in place to ensure that these standards are maintained.

IIHE at all times will maintain the highest level of standards in the higher education market. If you need further clarifications and more information, please do not hesitate to contact us on 077 222 66 66 or visit our website on www.iihe.lk.
