New BPO facility, 250 plus jobs for R.R. Donnelley in SL

R.R. Donnelley has expanded its Sri Lankan business process outsourcing business with a new facility on the 31st level, East, of Colombo's World Trade Centre twin towers. The company which currently employs about 750 in Colombo, and 6,500 in total in its offices encompassing Colombo, Trivendrum, Chennai and Manila, also revealed its plans this week at a press conference to add 35% more staff locally, taking its domestic tally to over a 1,000 by the close of 2011.

Further emerging, while not all of these new hires will need financial qualifications, the majority (80%) of employees are currently involved in financial services offerings with the other 20% assigned to the company's so-called "legacy" services or transactions processing offering. Both of which, together, encompassing the totality of the local operations' contribution to the group's US- and UK- based clients.
A company statement also noted the recent acquisition of office space for the purpose of setting up a second office in Manila, while two new facilities had also just been added in India.

The US-based, US$ 10 billion turnover R.R. Donnelley has about 58,000 employees worldwide, with offerings that include legal services, financial management, pre-media, transaction processing and real estate services.
