Thirty three overseas players in action at Provincial T-20

A galaxy of 33 international players will be in action at the first edition of the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) Twenty20 tournament which will get underway from July 19 to August 4, 2011 (both dates inclusive) at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.The international players will be in action alongside Sri Lankan national cricketers and young Lankan hopefuls in the same lines of the ongoing Indian Premier League tournament.

The first edition of SLPL Twenty20 will feature 7 Provinces, and each province will have not more than 5 overseas players in each squad. However, it will be mandatory for the team to field only 4 overseas players in the playing eleven, the remaining 7 players will all be Sri Lankans, with one player out of the said seven players will be an under-21 cricketer.

The Provinces taking part in the first edition of the SLPL will be Basnahira Bears, Kandurata Kites, Nagenahira Nagas, Ruhuna Rhinos, Uthura Oryxes, Uva Unicorns and Wayamba Wolves
Out of the foreign participants India will have the biggest contingent with twelve players in the fray with the new kid in town Paul Valthaty also being featured.

Out of the Australians the two show case players will be David Warner and Shaun Tate.
There will be six Pakistani players in the fray with Shahid Afridi and Sohaib Akhtar being the most senior. The other most exiting player on the map would be West Indian Chris Gayle who now has taken the IPL by storm.

The overseas players who will be action at the SLPL will be: Callum Ferguson, Dan Christian, David Warner, Shaun Tait (Australia), Tamim Iqbal (Bangladesh), Dinesh Karthik, Irfan Pathan, Manish Pandey, Manoj Tiwary, Munaf Patel, Paul Valthaty, Praveen Kumar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Saurabh Tiwary, Umesh Yadav, Vinay Kumar (India) Kevin O'Brien(Ireland), Daniel Vettori (New Zealand), Imran Nazir Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Akhtar, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Akmal, Wahab Riaz (Pakistan) Albie Morkel, Herschelle Gibbs, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Makhaya Ntini(South Africa) Chris Gayle Danza Hyatt, Darren Bravo, Kieron Pollard (West Indies)
