Janashakthi powers SJC Rugby

The St. Joseph's rugby team will be sponsored by Janashakthi Insurance for the 2011 schools league season. The Josephian rugby team remained undefeated last year hence becoming the Division I 'B' group champions. Following their success at the schools league rugby St. Joseph's also emerged as runners-up at the Zahira 7s in 2010.

The Darley Road school rugby team is captained by versatile No.8 Malintha Soyza. The team includes eight seniors. Prakash Schaffter, Janashakthi's Managing Director speaking at the official occasion of the sponsorship presentation said that they are proud to sponsor a team that possesses potential in the top league.

"We all know that rugby is a game that fires great passion across the whole of Sri Lanka be it at school, club or national level. School rugby produces and nurtures great players who invariably play club rugby and later at national level. This partnership is a win-win situation for both parties and we're confident of a superlative performance from the Josephians," he said.

Rev. Fr. Sylvester Ranasinghe, the Rector of St. Joseph's was thankful to Janashakthi Insurance for this very generous sponsorship.
