Cricket Club to change its name

A leading cricket club is to be taken over by a top sibling and its name also is to be changed. The idea is for this top sibling to occupy the most sought out seat in sports because the sport itself generates a lot of money. It is also said that a fast bwler is helping this individual to get things done.

High and dry

The big event where Sri Lanka was heavily involved in is long over but talks still simmer over its organizational short comings. Two hundred volunteers worked tirelessly to make the event a success. The chief organizers had presented to the local body Rs. 10,000 a day for the volunteers but it has not been distributed.

As a farewell gesture chief organizers based in UK had even given gold coins and certificates which were supposed to be handed over to these volunteers as an appreciation are still there.

These certificates and gold coins are said to be lying at the Head Office as the Lady who was in charge of the project had washed her hands off. The second in charge is not willing to come forward and take charge of the gold coins and certificates for fear that he maybe accused of fraud. As a result the volunteers are left high and dry. No money, no gold coins and no certificates!

Yet the one who is not supposed to have even got through the GCE OL examination is holding on till the next big ones comes year 2012.

Ready for the jump

The striking cop has been in his “D” for the good half of a decade. Now he is feeling the heat that the guys at the top may think that he has done enough there. So as a good cop should do, he is now planning to give up the stick and take over the ball which is played with bare hands. What people do for a mere trip abroad!

Holier than thou

The man who forgot to go home after a tour has turned a new leaf in life. Now he is holier than thou. So much so he keeps preaching his point of view on the subject he knows. Now he has come to the conclusion that there were skeletons in the cupboard from 1992 and this is a tradition in the game.

At this end we may not argue on his statement as even his present bed-mate was under a cloud from the authorities a while ago before an influential person swept it under the carpet.

Yet, the question that people ask is a person who was in the fray from 1986 waits till 2011 to spill the beans and yet he is trying to do so. Doesn’t this smell a rat? Is he trying to pin one of his past team mates or two of them?

Why did he wait so long – almost thirty years to tell the truth? We feel that he is guilty as much as the others for withholding an act of cheating if these allegations are true.

Umpires unhappy

Umpires officiating at a women’s cricket contest are an unhappy lot because their hotel accommodation is not met. However this is one of the regulations set up by the higher authorities.

Begging to go to Scotland

A team that is training for a world event in Singapore in July has got an invitation to tour Scotland in June and the powers that be initially agreed to pay for their tickets. Now the men in charge have changed their minds and the participants are going round with a begging bowl to collect funds for this Scottish tour.

It is said that the request for Scotland was turned down because Scotland is a very cold country as pointed out by certain people in the game.
