12 Month MBA or Traditional MBA

Nowadays, the most sought after career courses are either a traditional MBA or a12Month MBA. This is because an MBA promises constant growth and the job opportunities for an MBA graduate are enormous. There is a need for an MBA graduate in almost all business sectors and of course they are the ones that are highly placed. There is a lot of privatization and liberalization in all the business sectors and as a result this has increased the need for several business and operational managers in the country with a qualification such as an MBA.

Most people want to know the pros and cons of a traditional MBA as opposed to that of a 12month MBA, little do they realize that these MBAs cater to different sets of target audience. While a traditional MBA caters to a fresh graduate and people who have two to three years of work experience and want to take a two year break and pursue management studies, a 12Month MBA is specially targeted towards executives or managers who do not want a career change but rather grow in their field. Executives who have three to five years of managerial work experience are the ones who can pursue a 12Month MBA. This is a mandatory requirement for candidates who want to take up a 12Month MBA because the level of teaching in this type of course is quite high.

Usually, managers are made to discuss about different business challenges that they faced in their jobs, they are made to discuss different case studies and this helps them to learn from one another. On the other hand, a traditional MBA, though it involves discussions, projects and assignments, there is still a lot of foundation level courses that are covered because there may be many freshers who join these courses and do not have any business experience.

A traditional MBA scenario is very different from that of a 12Month MBA scenario. In the case of a traditional MBA course, students usually are not that focused on which career path they want to choose and tread on, while on the other hand candidates who select a 12Month MBA have relevant full-time work experience and hence are very confident about their careers and their choices. This makes things quite different for an executive who already has his/her foundation laid in the form of the number of years of work experience.
