Amaya Hills in Kandy wins at Star Awards 2010 Large Scale, Service Sector. The Department of Industrial Development and Enterprise Promotion (DIDEP) Central province recently concluded the Star Awards for the year 2010 for the 6th consecutive year at the Queens Hotel, Kandy.

The primary objective of the Star Awards 2010 is to appreciate and encourage best performing entrepreneurs in the Central Province.

The evaluation was made on a number of criteria encompassing planning process, achieving targets, creativeness, modernization, growth, financial management, human resources management, awards and social evaluation, standardization, internal administration activities, environmentally friendliness.

Reggae Jam on beach

Real reggae concert will come alive on the beach of Beruwala on Saturday, 15 January with Jayasri twins.‘Reggae Jam 2010 Open Air 2011’ will be held at the Maharaja Restaurant, Aluthgama on Kaluwamodara Beach featuring Jayasri with XOTIC band and Reggae DJs.

‘Jayasri’, who is based in Vienna, Austria is in town for the festive season and performing at a series of concerts around the country. ’We have done a series of concerts around the island during this festive season. Also have done a few TV  programmes  to give our best in the New Year to our fans’ said leader Rohitha

The duo was in action at the  ‘One Love Reggae Open Air 2011’  with XOTIC band at the Narigama Beach, Hikkaduwa last Saturday. They will be taking wing back to Europe on 17 January.

Popular singing duo Bathiya Jayakody and Santhush Weeraman take turns in rocking Prime TV’s ‘Celeb Chat’ with host Kumar de Silva at 9.30 pm on Monday, 10 January.

Old Thomian’s Swimming Club (OTSC) had its annual Chris tmas Carols recently at the Club House.
Brian Thomas hosted the event and featured the Youth Group of Moratuwa.
