Sports drama at AC

American biographical sports drama ‘The Blind Side’, written and directed by John Lee Hancock based on the book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis will be screened at 6 pm on December 28 at the American Center, Colombo.

Starring Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw Michael and Quinton Aaron film tells less about football but what the homeless teen knows is the streets and projects of Memphis.

For her performance, Sandra Bullock won the Academy Award for Best Actress, as well as the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Star in a Leading Role. The film itself also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.

Sanda Numba Nam on weekdays

Teledrama director and cameraman Thrishula Deepa Thambawita’s latest teleplay ‘Sanda Numba Nam’ telecast from Monday to Friday at 8.30 pm on Swarnavahini is one of the popular teleserial among the TV viewers.

Golden Chimes at GFH

Lankika and the Golden Chimes come alive at Galle Face Hotel, Jubilee Hall on 31st December at the Grand New Years Dinner Dance organized by the hotel. Popular singer Mariazelle Gunatilleke will also join with the Golden Chimes to perform as a guest star to usher the New Year.

Christmas song from Thilak de Mel

‘Christmas Time’, a C.D. comprising original Christmas songs by Thilak de Mel and other artistes from Moratuwa, is now out to grab during the festive season.

Thilak de Mel, who led the very popular vocal harmony group ‘Humming-birds’ in 1970s is instrumental in producing it.

In addition to songs and carols composed by Thilak, some songs composed and sung by Nihal Fernando of the popular musical group ‘NiRo’ and Sarath Gunawardena.

The songs were recorded at the ‘Simple’ Recording studio in Moratuwa. Assisted and enriched by Lakruwani Rozairo and Chathuranga Fernando.
