Summons issued on two ASPs

Lakshman Kadirgamar Assassination Case

Colombo High Court Judge Kumudini Wickremesinghe on Friday issued summons on two police officers to appear on January 12 to give evidence in connection with the case pertaining to the assassination of former Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar.

The two officers, Assistant Superintendents of Police Palitha Fernando and Rohan Jayawardena, had recorded the confessions of the two accused in the ongoing case. The accused in the case are Isithor Arokkiyanathan and Sahayadevan Sabhadevan.

Deputy Solicitor General Kapila Waidyaratna appeared for the Prosecution, while K.V. Thavarasa for the accused. Mr. Kadirgamar was assassinated at his Bullers Lane residence on August 12, 2005.
