Shivantha Vivekanandan at the helm again

Former Sports Star Shivantha Vivekanandan was elected uncontested as the President of the Deaf Schools Past Pupils Association, The School for the Deaf, Ratmalana for the eighth successive year at the 61st Annual General Meeting held at the Stanley Hall of the School for the Deaf, Ratmalana.

A distinguished past pupil who did a tremendous amount of development for his alma mater in many ways, organized the Deaf Schools Sports Activities partnered by Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC from 2002 to 2010, where many deaf schools in Sri Lanka participated in cricket, netball and volleyball (boys and girls).

He is also the current President of the Sri Lanka Deaf Cricket Association where the deaf cricketers play leather ball cricket in Division III, conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Asia Deaf Cricket Federation and is the advisor for Deaf Link.

He has won many awards in studies, art and sports. Recently he was awarded the ‘Prestigious Award’ which was a great honour to the deaf community in Sri Lanka.

Jayawardena, Jeevan Kumarasinghe and Mrs. Nilanka Fernando.
