FFSL maps out strategy

A number of football events have been mapped out by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) to be conducted during the months of November and December, with the aim of promoting the game in the country.

The spotlight will initially be focused on women’s football, with the Maldives’ women team touring the country to play two matches against our national team. The first match will take place in Kalutara, at the Vernon Fernando Stadium, while the final game will be hosted at the Baddagana FFSL Complex.

This will no doubt aid the Sri Lankan team’s preparation for the Inaugural SAFF Women’s Football championship, which is to be held from December 3 to 13. There will also be several training programmes targeting the development of youth players, as well as their teachers and coaches. These will consist of a FIFA and FFSL Grassroots training programme and a Goalkeeping training programme.

There will also be seminars for referees handling beach soccer on November 11 and 13 as well as a similar course for referees of the conventional brand of football on November 19, 20 and 21.
