Menaka and Soundarie to make music

Well known musicians — soprano Menaka de Fonseka Sahabandu, and pianist Soundarie David Rodrigo, will be centre-stage once again in ‘An Evening with Menaka and Soundarie’ on Tuesday, October 19 at 7.30 p.m at the Lionel Wendt. Also featured at the concert as guest artiste will be well known flautist Sureka Amerasinghe.

The audience will have the opportunity to listen to a variety of music, ranging from classical, Romantic, Opera, Art Song, and music from Broadway and Popular Latin American, and some Sri Lankan songs.

Arias by Rossini, Donizetti, Delibes, Handel and the ever popular “Voices of Spring” by Johann Strauss will be performed, together with “Fly Me to the Moon”, and “Besame Mucho” amongst others.

The concert is organized by Zonta Club 1 of Colombo, an organization of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women through service and advocacy.

Proceeds of the programme will be in aid of a project organized by the charitable institution Samata Sarana, to enhance computer literacy of underprivileged girls, as well as other ongoing charitable projects.
