We’ll miss the voice and presence of our beloved Q

Q. J. C. Fernando

Family, relatives and friends were saddened to hear of the passing away of Q. J. C. Fernando, a few weeks ago. Known popularly as “Q”, he was friend to one and all. The large crowd that attended his funeral bore testimony to his popularity.

Born in Payagala, he had his education at St. Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya, and as a marketer served at Delmage & Uswatte Confectionaries.

He was very popular with his colleagues, and a livewire of the Moratuwa Y Men’s Club, of which he was president for many years. He took an active interest in all club activities, and played a pivotal role in raising funds for club projects.

He was a good vocalist, and entertained us at all our gatherings. Listening to him sing was a very enjoyable experience.

When he retired, he worked as secretary for St. Sebastian’s Church, Moratuwa, helping the incumbent priests in their administrative work. He leaves behind his wife Shirani, daughter Dilshani and son Dinesh.

We wish Q the joys of eternal bliss on that beautiful shore with our Heavenly Father.

Mirelle
