Enraged lover sets fiancée on fire

A Kandy resident, who had just returned to Sri Lanka after an eight-year work stint overseas, poured petrol on his fiancée and set her on fire on discovering that she was having an affair with another man.

According to the Kandy Police, the man had arrived in the country on Friday. The badly burned woman is receiving treatment at the Kandy hospital.

The man, who surrendered to the police, said he lost control of himself when he found out that the woman had a secret lover.
