Navy by a whisker

In a closely contested Defence Service rugby encounter, Navy only just brushed past Army with a final score of 8 (one try, one penalty) to 5 (one try) at Ratmalana.

The try for Navy came from Winger Niranjan Wickramaratne and it was converted by Fly half Dev Anand. For the soldiers, the sole scorer was Roshan Senanayake. A prominent feature of the match was the inclusion of 13 school leavers in the Navy lineup.
