Easy for Joes

St Joseph’s College guided by a hurricane 67 runs from Fabian Fernando trounced Prince of Wales by 85 runs to enter the Semi finals of the All Island Schools Division one Under 15 tournament.

Batting first the Josephians notched up 257/9 in their allotted 50 overs. Their innings was initially anchored by a sedate 49 by skipper Dylan Fernandopulle and later by a quickfire 67 from Fabian Fernando. The lanky allrounder plundered six sixes and five fours that took the Josephians to a match winning total.

The Cambrians started off spiritedly but struggled to keep the momentum going as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Suchira Fernando top scored for the losers with a stylish half century.
It was the 13th straight victory for the Darley Road School who will now meet St Sebastian’s in the Semi final next week.

Scores:
St. Joseph’s 257 for 9 in 50 overs (Duran de Alwis 34, Dylan Fernandopulle 49, Pethum Madusanka 27, Priyamal Perera 23, Fabian Fernando 67; Gayan Chamara 3/78, Ashan Fernando 3/62)
