Mr. Herman .S. Gonsal, Managing Director/CEO of Nivasie Developers

Nivasiepura which is the flagship project undertaken by Nivasie Developers is spread across a 114 acre range. The company ensures at all times that high levels of environmental standards, sewerage, garbage collection and water supply are maintained to the maximum. Nivasiepura houses over 1200 families with over a 5000 population so therefore adhering to an eco friendly concept is of paramount importance.

Nivasiepura maintains a sewerage plant spread across 1 acre of land where the Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) levels acceptable according to the relevant Authorities. The company has also developed mechanisms which have effectively reduced the carbon footprint and thereby creating a carbon credit. The Sunday Times Supplements Desk spoke to Mr. Herman .S. Gonsal, Managing Director/CEO of Nivasie Developers to find how eco friendly their projects really are.

"After having completed 1200 houses in Ja Ela which is equipped with a central sewer plant system where the water is treated and reused in the green belt and other areas, going further with our eco friendly concept we have constructed three manmade lakes, where water is collected in order to maintain a consistent water table level. We have also adopted effective garbage collection systems which further contribute towards an eco friendly society. In the future we hope to start up another new project in the suburbs of Colombo", says Mr. Gonsal

The Nivasie project in Digana Kandy has ensured that every individual house includes a separate tank where rain water is collected, which can be used for gardening purposes in addition to four ponds where rain water can be collected. The Victoria Range Bungalows in Digana are fully furnished and includes two bungalows with three rooms each and includes a swimming pool, restaurant, squash and tennis courts and gymnasium. Maintaining the eco friendly theme Victoria Range offers solar power street lights and water heaters.

"Nivasiepura in Ja Ela is also a very successful project undertaken by Nivasie which also follows a very eco friendly approach in keeping the environment clean. All our projects are built around the eco friendly concept and therefore we always provide our residents with continuous assistance and support to ensure that this concept is maintained consistently. Nivasie Developers have also designed a greenhouse in Nivasiepura Ja Ela where plants and other types of foliage are sold to residents to make their projects adapt the green concept whilst improving the natural surroundings", further stated Mr. Gonsal.

Nivasie Developers (Pvt) Ltd., for being accorded the great Merit Award ~ Extra large Category (National Level)awarded by the Ceylon National Chamber of Industry.

Nivasie also offers a villa bungalow in Ja Ela which is designed according to South African architecture, which can be reserved for locals as well as foreigners. Already prior reservations for the next two months have been made for the villa which is fast becoming popular.

The villa offers three bedrooms and is built around an open concept. This is an ideal place of stay for transit foreigners as well as locals who like spend holidays with friends and family.

It has been found out that every time one flushes out your toilet commode you loose 9 litres of water. Nivasie Developers have introduced an innovative method of saving 1 litre of water in every flush which in total is a large saving of water taking into consideration the number of houses and the number of toilets in their housing projects.

In conclusion Mr. Gonsal said, "Our asset has always been our clients of which 20% of our client base are repeat clientele which shows the high levels of trust customers have placed in us. Our projects are also ideal investment opportunities, especially Nivasiepura and the Victoria Range which offers affordable houses where its value appreciation in the market is extremely high."
