The British College of Applied Studies holds annual Convocation 2010 today

Over 450 Diplomates from the British College of Applied Studies the proud pioneers of Edexcel, UK's BTEC HND programmes in Sri Lanka are to be conferred Higher National Diplomas at the convocation ceremony to be held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) on August 15 2010 at 10.00 am. The diplomas to be awarded are for IT related disciplines, Quantity Surveying and Business Management.

The function will be held under the patronage of Mr Abdur Rahman, the Chairman of the British College of Applied Studies and the Chief Guest for the occasion will be Professor Robert Moreton, Dean of the School of Communication & Information Technology, University of Wolverhampton, UK.
Edexcel UK will be represented by Mr. Suriya Bibile, its Country Manager for Sri Lanka.

Mr. Abdul Rahman stated, "The occasion will mark the culmination of 16 months of studying at BCAS and will be the pinnacle for the students receiving awards. This ceremony stands testament to the many accolades and achievements of BCAS students for their performances in their chosen fields of study. BCAS is proud of its products and takes this opportunity to wish them all the best in their future academic as well as career endeavours".

With proven track record and experience over a period of 10 years in providing quality higher education and vocational training, BCAS currently conducts Edexcel-approved BTEC HND Programmes in ICT System Support, Computing General, Soft ware Development, Quantity Surveying, Business Manage ment, Telecomm unication Engineering, Inte rnational Hosp itality Management and Law. Besides these, BCAS also offers career-focused vocational courses and specialized "no-wait for job" training which construction industry direly needs, such as CAD & BS, Professional Diploma in Construction Technology and Professional Diploma in Land Surveying.

In average, 400 students pass out each year and gain admission to final year of BSc (Hons.) or BA (Hons.) degree programmes in over 105 reputed universities in the UK, Australia, USA or Canada.

BCAS boasts state-of-the-art campuses in Colombo, Dehiwela and Kandy with an equally fully fledged overseas campus in Qatar where the degree course in Quantity Surveying has already been started in partnership with the University of Wolverhampton, UK. Recently, as a part of the expansion programme a further branch was established in Oman to run BCAS' courses.
