Age Group Swim meet on August 6, 7 and 8

Hundreds of swimmers, from several of the country’s leading schools and clubs, will dive into the Ananda College swimming pool for the All Island Age Group Swimming Championship which will take place on August 6, 7 and 8.

Male and female participants will be competing individually in different events throughout the age categories between under 10 to under 19. There will also be an over 19 age group for more senior swimmers. The swimmers that have accumulated the highest point tally by securing a number of events will be named overall champions.

For an event, the top three swimmers will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals along with a certificate which is distributed to the top six participants in an event.

The meet is being organized by the Ananda College Aquatic club in partnership with the Ananda College Swimming Pool Management Committee. The meet sponsors are Bank of Ceylon. The committee expects participation at this years championship to exceed the 1300 mark set last year. Applications for the championship are still being received with the closing date marked for July 25.
