Ready for Re-arrival

Young filmmaker Sumith Rohana Thiththawalgala’s maiden film ‘Sthuthi Newatha Enna’ (Anticipating Re-arrival) is now being screened at Regal cinema Colombo and other CEL circuit cinemas around the country.

Scripted, screenplay written and directed by Thiththawalgala himself, the film tells the story of a father and his two sons who are two service personnel-one a trooper the other an airman. Set around the last victorious phase of the war and bringing to vivid life the cruelty and the agony that are fresh in our memory.

The story revolves around Keerthirathna, a soldier who gets injured in the battle front and returns to the village. His mother had died when he was young and his father was unable to cultivate his fields due to a severe drought. Keerthirathna’s elder brother is in the Airforce and has a son who is schooling.

When Keerthirathna gets cured of his injuries, he finds that Vidane, the father had been taken seriously ill. The young solodier has no alternative but to wait and look after the sick father. Yet the father who hears of the valiant acts of soldiers is worried that his own son is not going back to battlefront to become a part of the victorious troops.

The film cast includes Hemasiri Liyanage, Damitha Abeyratne, Bimal Jayakody, Jagath Beneragama, Jayani Senanayake, Mandasmitha Muduthepuli, Asela Jayakody, Ramindu Beneragama, Sampath Jayaweera and Mangala Madugalla who also plays the role of producer.
