Modern Samurai in worthy cause

‘Yamakazi’, a French movie on a benevolent mission by a group of fighters, directed by Ariel Zeitoun will be screened at 3 pm on June 15 and at 6.30 pm on June 16 at the Alliance Francaise, Barnes Place, Colombo 7.

Nines-year-old Jamal is injured in a fall and must have a heart transplant within 24 hours to survive. Jamal’s poor family desperately needs to come up with $58,000 to pay the Heart Transplant Corp for the operation. The Yamakasi, a group of daring urban acrobats, come to the rescue, burglarizing the homes of the rich HTC board members to pay for Jamal’s operation.

Gravity or Police, these guys don’t believe in any law. Idolised by the youth of Paris as much as they’re hated by the police, they are the Yamakasis, modern samurais. With acrobatic skillfulness and adrenaline pumping belief in their own immortality, they throw themselves out from incredible heights, and jump from roof to roof. Locked doors and “No Trespassing”-signs become irresistible challenges.
