Surfing contests at Arugam Bay

The Arugam Bay Surf Club and the newly formed Surfing Federation of Sri Lanka is gearing itself to conduct the Surf Competition sponsored by SriLankan Airlines from June 18 to 24.

Both Arugam Bay Surf Club and the Surfing Federation of Sri Lanka are working in line with the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) in organizing the Surfing Sri Lanka Trials to be held on June 16 and 17.

The event is open to all Sri Lankan born surfers who are affiliated to the Surfing Federation. Competitors are requested to submit their entries by June 10.

All surfers have the opportunity to be members of the Federation, whether it is through the existing surf club or as an individual member. The top two surfers will then receive wild cards into the main event against some of the best surfers in the world.

In addition to the Trials competition there will be the inaugural Annual General Meeting of the Surfing Federation of Sri Lanka on June 19 at the Tri-Star Hotel in Arugam Bay.

All candidates for election will have to submit their credentials by June 5 if they wish to be considered for election.
