Academic excellence at Wycherley International School

The ancient Greek philosophers looked upon education as creating a sound mind in a sound body. Wycherley International School which counts a quarter century of expertise in education aims at just this.
Under the able guidance of the Principal Mr. Kingsley Jayasinghe, the school has soared to great, academic heights with many students achieving 8 'A' grades at the O/Level and, 4 A grades at the A/Level Cambridge examinations. The records are available for perusal at the school.

Commencing with the playgroup, the school goes on to Elementary, Primary, Junior and High School. There are Headmistresses in charge of each section with the Senior School coming directly under the supervision of the Principal. In addition, the School provides for a wide range of sports activities. The School Sports Meet, Swimming Meet and Annual Cricket encounter with CIS are the highlights of the school's sporting calendar. In addition the students participate in Basketball, Netball and Soccer training, playing fixtures with other international schools.

There is also provision for extramural activities in a number of clubs such as the Science Association, Maths Club, Chess Club, Drama Club, Interact Club and Arts Society. Every student is encouraged to join one of those clubs. Religious associations to cater to the multi-religious student population of the school also exist viz the Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Buddhist societies.

While children learn to care for and share with others, the annual Christmas programme, Wesak Bakti Gee, and the Muslim 'Ifthar' are events patronized by the students of all religions! The school also has an annual Cultural Day in which students of Wycherley who belong to diverse ethnic groups, local and foreign, participate.

Wycherley International School therefore produces a rich environment for the growing child, to be nurtured in, leading to the final goal of realizing that he is a citizen of the world and not of an isolated country.

Today Wycherley International School is proud of its students who have continued their education in prestigious foreign universities in England the USA and Australia as well as Singapore and Malaysia. The school has produced doctors, scientists, IT specialists, lawyers, accountants and Graduates in Economics and Business Studies. Armed with good O/Level and A/Level qualifications, they have had no difficulty in entering universities like Cambridge, the London School of Economics, Imperial College, the Ivy League Universities of the USA and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

It must be noted that though an international school, the children are immersed in the local culture as mentioned above.

The Principal, Mr. K. Jayasinghe, is an excellent mentor, as well as a strict disciplinarian, and is supported by a highly qualified and experienced teaching staff. The teachers are at hand always, ready and willing to help the students, sacrificing their free-time and even the holidays to do so.

The school has also begun to present students for the English and Mathematics examinations at Grades 5 & 8 of the Cambridge University. This will further enhance the skills of the students in these subjects, enabling them to acquire a good grounding in preparation for the higher examinations.
