He got what he deserved

Recently a leading umpire was laid to rest. At the funeral another of the same type who attended the funeral was threatened with assault as it is said that when the dead man was alive he had been a thorn in the flesh for this officiating type and had mad his life a misery and had even forced him to quit the job because of his interference. Well he certainly got what he deserved!

Honouring the dead

It is the done thing to honour a dead colleague by hanging a banner at one’s funeral to appreciate the services rendered to the sport. But because of differences in the committee to which he had been a member of the opposing committee did not want the banner to be hung while others protested vehemently. Remember old chap death will always overtake us, that is one thing for certain. Do you think what this officiating chap has done is the right thing?

Six fold salary increase

The talk is that a top man who does accounts at the Citadel who draws a substantial salary has his salary increased six fold because he is said to be covering up the top man’s dealings clerverly! At a time when the country is cash strapped and everyone is tightening their belts comes this staggering piece of news. Many are hoping that they too can grab a job at the Citadel to tide overthese difficult times.

Big deal for big fish?

Recently the Citadel held an examination for their officials and the news that has leaked out is that one chap has been caught cheating and has got a two year ban slapped on him. But the strange twist in the tale is that some years back a similar incident took place and the offenders, in this case, were given two month bans only. Is this a case of sprats getting a lesser deal while the big ones get away with greater things?

Match fixing at IPL

Could it be true, that a leading Sri Lankan umpire’s name has been associated with match fixing at the recently concluded IPL Tournament in India?

The word is that this is very much so. If this is the case, what a shame to the island nation, this is as bad as the case where the top dog in the contest is being investigated for fraud.

Tenders to be probed

The Citadel is very much in the news these days. The talk is that two leading types, lawyers at that, are to be appointed to the Citadel, which will come under the leading type’s sibling shortly. One of their first tasks is to see whether recent tenders undertaken at the Citadel are for real and to cancel them if they do not fit the purpose or bill.
