Eighteen year old schoolgirl Upekha Nirmani from Negombo created history last week when she clinched the coveted Derana Dream Star Season 2 title at the Grand Finale of the Derana Dream Star competition held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium.
Upekha , an Advanced Level student from Newstead Girls Colleg, Negombo, was among the three finalists including 23-year-old Udesh Manoj from Galle and 21-year-old Nimesh Chamika from Panadura.
Upekha Nirmani created history as she becomes the first female contestant to win a reality show title organized by a TV station.
Udesh was the first runner-up while Nimesh was placed third in the competition that had veterans Keerthi Pasqual, Rohana Bogoda and Nirosha Virajini in the panel and host Amila Abeysekara.
The co-producers of the programme were Madhawa Ganegoda and Chamindalal Wijesundera. |
