Funday Times - A Poem for the week

Celebrate a peaceful Avurudu
By Ayodhya Perera (14 years), Bishop's College

The pot of boiling milk overflows,
As we offer thanks for the gift of peace…
The oil lamp casts its
luminescence,
As the war and killings have
ceased!

It's Avurudu again, with joy and cheer,
Heralding the new year beginning!
Flowers bloom in great profusion,
As the bells of peace are pealing…

A sheaf of betel passes from hand to hand,
Bound with friendship, goodwill and love,
Mother Lanka, united she stands,
Raising her head to the heavens above!!
