Mother's Touch International Vocational Academy

Mother's Touch International Vocational Academy which celebrated its 4th Anniversary in December 2009, has graduated from its infancy and toddler hood and is now growing up with its 12th batch of students.

This is an achievement with a total of 476 students graduated in Children's Services and Early Childhood Education. Most of them secured employment locally and in overseas job markets, and others ventured into higher studies.

Ms. Geetha Kaduwela, Managing Director of Mother's Touch (Pvt) Limited, returned from Australia armed with her qualification and experience gained in New South Wales. From the humble beginnings in 2006, today 'Mother's Touch' in Sri Lanka is the only Academy recognized for Childcare Management (CCM) and Early Childhood Development and Education (ECHE) by the Australian, Queensland State Government. Diploma Holders are approved for work in Australia as qualified assistants in Licensed Centre Based Children's Services.

Mother's Touch Diploma holders are also recognized in the United Kingdom, as International Vocational Qualified individuals. The Academy is registered with The City and Guilds for Children's Care, Learning and Development qualifications NVQ Levels 2 & 3.

These approved childcare qualifications are a boon to the students for career approaches in Children's Services and Community Welfare Services worldwide. Community Welfare Service is the most diverse and fastest growing industry groups in the Australian and International workforce.

This industry is central to the wellbeing and development of people, from birth to old age. The need for skilled community workers is ever present, and offers a challenging and intensely rewarding career for those with the right personal qualities and training.

Job prospects are excellent and expanding with an ageing population worldwide and growing demand for improved childcare and welfare services. Children's Care Diploma course of one year duration covering 20 modules develops and trains individuals to gain employment in a range of positions learning about interpersonal communication, basic counselling skills, group and teamwork skills, personal and professional skills such as time and stress management and experience to first aid.

The doors are open for careers in the following areas: Childcare coordinators, centre managers, skilled caregivers, childcare workers, community liaison offers, disability workers, drug and alcohol counsellor, social welfare and community worker.

The dedicated, internationally qualified and trained, lecturers at Mother's Touch make it a pleasurable experience for students and are willing to assist students by explanations and translations, guiding and improving the level of English of the students as well!

Mother's Touch Academy for Children's Services and Education, offer National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) in Sri Lanka and Level 2 & 3 City and Guilds UK International Vocational Qualification (IVQ) leading the pathway to a degree programme.

The all important Modern Montessori Method of Education (MMME - AMI) in the NVQ Level is also conducted at Mother's Touch for Teachers and Trainees. Registrations are now open for the 1st Semester of 2010 for the following courses: CCM, ECHE, MMME (AMI) and City and Guilds.
In addition, crash courses are conducted for those who have the necessary background and are migrating, and need to be armed with an added qualification for recognition as you seek greener pastures.
