SLIIT recently partnered with the reputed global IT services company Virtusa Corporation to introduce a programme that will boost the quality of the Software Testing educational experience and maximise student potential within the IT sector.

The programme, titled Virtusa Head Start, has been initiated as a means of backward integrating into the Institutes with the aim of developing a potential talent pool for the IT Industry. SLIIT has partnered with Virtusa for this programme to offer the 'Certified Software Quality Assurance Associate' course to provide a head start for students who wish to pursue a career in Software Test Engineering. Upon completion of the course, which is conducted by SLIIT for the duration of one month, students are then able to follow a two-month internship at Virtusa, enabling them to gather valuable experience in relation to technologies, methods and tools used in the enterprises.

Mr. Chandana Ranasinghe, Head of Software Test Engineering at Virtusa, elaborates that "We have been working very closely with SLIIT in building capacity for Test Engineering over the past few years. We consider Virtusa Head Start to be a milestone of our relationship, as Virtusa has moved one step closer to creating a path that enhances the employability of graduates". Professor Lalith Gamage, President and CEO of SLIIT, claims that SLIIT aims to constantly raise the bar by providing cutting edge educational resources for its students and opening valuable avenues towards increasing employment prospects and securing job placements within a highly competitive arena in IT.
