GEYEF assists to earn a Commonwealth state university degree in India

Global Environmental Youth Education Foundation is the pioneer in popularising Indian University education among Sri Lankan students.

This is the brainchild of its founder, and the Director General, Mr.G.A.W.G.Galgamuwa ( Ex Lieutenant VNF / former Director Foreign affairs, National Youth Services Council). Not for profit, not for charity but for services being his motto, and a firm believer that an educated youth is an asset to the family, the country and the world. The first batch of students proceeded to Bangalore in the year 1994. Since then 3200 Sri Lankan students have graduated.

GEYEF now admits students mainly to the above colleges and a few others in Bangalore. Indian Academy is the only college that has been endorsed by NAAC as A Graded with CGPA 3.09. Another achievement of that college is, one of its student won the gold medal and ranked first for Microbiology in Bangalore.

NAAC- National Assessment and Accreditation Council -It is an autonomous body established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India, to assess and accredit institutions of higher education in the country. It is possible to earn a degree entering any college affiliated to University Bangalore or any other university.

But it is important to select a college with NAAC accreditations, because it is the endorsement given by the government to confirm that the college is a good standard college. Many colleges do not possess this endorsement. The Indian academy is the only A Grade college with CGPA 3.09. T John, Bangalore city College and Besant Women's College are also endorsed with NAAC B +++ grade.
Inauguration of the Association of Sri Lankan Graduates of Indian Universities was a historic event. The Assistant High Commission for India in Sri Lanka (Kandy), His Excellency Mr. Achal K. Malhotra and the Chairman of the University Grants Commission, Prof. B.R.R.N.Mendis jointly inaugurated the association on June 30 2001 at the Queens Hotel, Kandy.
