The sound of revving go kart engines enveloped the Speedrome facility yesterday as budding drivers vied for top spot at the All Island Karting Championship’s first round.

The event was open to anyone who wished to participate, provided they met with the minimum height requirement of 5 feet and came dressed in the suitable attire.

The second and third rounds will take place in March and April respectively on dates yet to be decided. Winners of yesterday’s event earned prizes which included a paid trip to India to train in a single seater racing car.
