DSS beat St. Sylvester’s and Police in same match at Kandy

By Aubrey Kuruppu

DS Senanayake duly completed a six wickets win over St. Sylvester’s and a Police directive that they wanted the Grounds in Kandy by 2 pm by finishing the game with five minutes to spare yesterday.
The stars that shone brightly for DS were off spinner Malshan Gunasinghe (8 for 32) and Wasuka Wetakepotha who had a boundary-filled knock of 66 (4x10, 6x1).

The Sylvestrian batting disappointed twice over. However the bowlers produced a bit of a fight back to shock the visitors second time around. The target was only 37 but the DS batsmen stammered and stuttered before finally getting there.

St. Sylvester’s 150 in 34 overs (Dileepa Gayesan 59; D. Sachintha 5 for 39, M. Gunasinghe 2 for 31) and 123 in 36 overs (M. Nanayakkara16, K. Herath 15, F. Ahamed 31,G. Tivanka 14 n.o; M. Gunasinghe 6 for 31, H. Wijenaike 3 for 34)
