‘Sikuru Hathe’ back on screen

The award winning box office hit comedy ‘Sikuru Hathe’ will be re-released soon on popular demand in a number cinemas around the country.

Actor and director Giriraj Kaushalya’s maiden film ‘Sikuru Hathe’ became the highest grossing film in 2007 and won many awards including Best Actor SIGNIS award and Most Popular Actor, Best Singer and Best up coming actress at the recently concluded Sarasavi awards festival and other merit awards from both the film festivals.

This action comedy revolving around a Kapuwa, the traditional matchmaker who faces a dilemma in finding a partner for his own daughter is a production of Hans Anton Vanstarex for New Imperial Talkies (NIT) which also made its first appearance in Sri Lankan cinema.

The cast includes Wijaya Nandasiri, Susila Kottage, Rodney Warnakula, Anton Jude, Priyantha Seneviratne, Anarakalli Aakarssha and Hemantha Eeriyagama. The film also has veteran names like Tony Ranasinghe and Iranganie Serasinghe and other talented stars like Veena Jayakody, Himali Sayurangi, Suraj Mapa, Lalith Janakantha, Wasantha Vittachchi, Sarath Chandrasiri, Sarath Kothelawela, Lakshmi Damayanthi, Nimini Kottegoda and Somasiri Alakolanga.

Ruwan Costa handled the camera, Tharupathy Munasinghe wrote the musical score and Ravindra Guruge edited ‘Sikuru Hathe’.

Imal Shanaka Peiris handled the make up while Manoj Wickramasinghe was the art director. Newton Gunaskera assisted in direction while Jeyaprakash Sivagurunathan became the production designer with Sri Lal Wickramage joining as the production manager.

On an idea by the director ‘Sikurur Hathe’ has three songs which are completely different from each other. Their music is directed by three well-known names Rohana Weerasinghe, Navaratne Gamage and Tharupathi Munasinghe and sung by Sunil Perera, Kasun Kalhara, Rodney Warnakula, Bandula Wijeweera and Uresha Ravihari.
