Antonians crash land at Moratuwa

St Sebastian’s defeated St Anthony’s by five wickets with eight balls to spare in their Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter concluded at Moratuwa yesterday.

Deshan Dias was the hero when he cracked a quick fire 46 while Sebs were chasing a target of 123 runs in 20 overs. Earlier in the day the home team declared on their overnight score of 263 for 7. A knock of 82 by Hiran Wickremasinghe in the second innings was in vain as the Antonians were unable to prevent the Sebs from recording their third win of the season.

De Mazenod record second outright win

Lads from De Mazenod Kandana recorded their second outright win for the season with an easy seven wicket win over Kalutara MV at Kandana yesterday.

Kalutara MV resuming from their overnight score of 26 for no loss was mesmerized by right arm off spinner D.A.D. Maduranga who ended with impressive figures of 6 for 13.

Kalutara MV after being bowled out for 137 in the second innings gave the Mazenodians a simple target of 73 runs which they achieved in just 17 overs.

Ananda dominate Royal

Ananda took the top honours in their drawn match against Royal concluded at Reid Avenue yesterday. The second days play saw Royal after being well placed on 228 for 4 losing wickets at regular intervals before declaring their innings on 260 for 8.

This was in reply to Ananda’s score of 390 for 6 declared.

On the opening day Ananda struggling on 5 for 2 was helped by a massive 264 runs partnership for the third wicket between Geshan Wimaladharma who made 136 and Sachin Dewage making 122.
