Funday Times - A Poem for the week

Shade selection
By Aranya Dewanarayana (14 years), St. Joseph's Convent, Kegalle

Mum instructed me this morning,
That as a new year has begun,
I should start painting my room,
And I knew it was going to be fun!

But what really bothers me,
Is that I still cannot decide,
The perfect shade that matches;
I've got to make up my mind.

If I paint it yellow,
It'll remind me of bananas,
And if I paint it pink,
I'll be thinking of faludas!

Bright red will surely resemble,
Juicy cherries and strawberries,
While purple reminds me of
Ripe grapes and mulberries!

I'll dream of chocolates all night long,
If I painted my bedroom in brown!
But, I must select a shade soon,
Before my mum starts to frown!
