Mercantile Division ‘A’ Cricket

Sampath Bank defeated John Keells by 38 runs in their Mercantile Division ‘A’ limited over encounter played at the Colts ground yesterday. Sampath Bank helped by a half ton by Sameera de Soysa made 183 and then restricted John Keells to a score of 145.

Sampath Bank 183 in 48.2 overs (Sameera de Soysa 50, Jeewan Mendis 43, Malinga Surappulige 20, Nuwan Perera 23 n.o.20: Upul Indrasiri 3 for 35, Shaminda Eranga 2 for 25)

John Keells 145 in 41.2 overs (Janaka Gunaratne 54, Samith Dushantha 26: Nuwan Perera 3 for 20, Rangana Herath 3 for 25)

Janashakthi routs Seylan Bank

Dilshan Munaweera cracked a 76 to help Janashakthi rout Seylan Bank by eight wickets in another match of the same tournament played at the Bloomfield ground in Reid Avenue. Janashakthi after bowling Seylan Bank for 160 reached the target in the 35th over.

HNB by five wickets

HNB overcame Unichela by five wickets in their match played at Maitland Place. Unichela taking first lease of the wicket made 171 with HNB needing just 36.3 overs to reach the target.

MCA Division ‘C’ final played at P Sara Oval

LB Finance emerge champions

LB Finance emerged the Mercantile Division ‘C’ champions when they beat Commercial Bank by 34 runs in the final played at the P. Sara Stadium yesterday.

This was the second time in the season that Commercial Bank has been beaten by the champions.
In the league encounter LB Finance came out victorious by 49 runs. Roshen Silva who was adjudged the man of the final and the player of the tournament along with Lakshan Rodrigo and Tharuka de Zoysa excelled for the champion team. LB Finance after making a modest 196 fought back to restrict their opponents to a score of162.
