A new chapel for St. Sebastian’s College

The foundation stone for a new chapel for St Sebastian's College, Moratuwa was laid on January 16, 2009. The new chapel will be blessed and declared open by Archbishop Rev. Dr. Malcolm Ranjith on January 19, which is the college loyalty day, at 8 30 a.m.

The new chapel is a dream come true for the school, which is now 150 years old. The chapel project includes class rooms, administrative block and a library which cost Rs. 60 million, the funds being collected by old Sebs, students, parents and teachers. The chapel is housed on the upper floor of the building.

The Archbishop along with other Bishops Rt. Rev. Dr. Marius Peiris, Auxiliary Bishop of Colombo, Rt. Rev. Dr. Winston Fernando, Bishop of Badulla and Rt. Rev. Dr. Valance Mendis, Bishop of Chilaw who are old boys of the College together with Archbishop Emeritus Rev. Dr. Oswald Gomis and Rev. Dr. Nicholas Marcus Fernando and old boy priests will be present at the ceremony.
