July 2010 entry to Australian Educational Institutions - time to start thinking

The entry to Semester I of the Australian educational institutions is now being finalized. A good number of Sri Lankan students would be leaving from now on till end February to commence their studies in various universities and institutions in Australia.

Most students who sat the 2009 GCE A/L Sri Lanka examination were unable to seek placements as most institutions had closed their entries for February 2010, when results were released. Opportunity is now open for them to join semester II in July 2010. Edlocate which directly represents 13 Australian universities (6 of them are "Go8" universities) and a host of other reputed institutions, is ready to assist you in many ways to enrol in a university of your choice.

The requirement to enter an undergraduate course directly is GCE A/L 3 subjects with the appropriate grading required to meet the entry score for each course. Those who do not have the direct entry score or results could enter through many different pathways. An accelerated pathway to graduate is also available to bright students with excellent GCE O/L results, through Foundation Programmes. Students with excellent results in G.C.E. A/L (3 "A" grade passes and a prominent Island and District ranking) could be recommended for scholarships offered by a number of universities. However obtaining a scholarship is very competitive.

Edlocate counsellors at both their Colombo and Kandy offices are mature, educated, understanding and well experienced. The time for counselling is unlimited and parents and guardians are welcome to accompany students. They will offer career and course guidance, assist in selection of the institution to study and obtain placements. Edlocate being a Streamline Agent appointed by the Australian High Commission will handle the Pre Visa Assessment and subsequent enrolment and ensure that the student is issued a visa.

.Edlocate is a "one stop" shop. Classes are conducted for IELTS preparation through a very capable tutor at the Colombo office and students could register through Edlocate for the test at the British Council. Students are assisted to obtain accommodation in Australia to suit their budget. Edlocate through their preferred travel agent could assist in travel arrangements of students and accompanying persons and also assist to lodge visit visa applications of accompanying family members. Edlocate is the only agency in Sri Lanka that has a fully fledged representation office in Australia which can assist students whilst in Australia. All these student services are provided on a complimentary basis.
