Achinthaya first in chess



Achinthaya Shamen Kaluarachchi (pic on top) bagged first place on board No 6 under 10 boys A Division at the All Island Inter-School Team Chess Championships 2009 conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Chess Championships at Royal College Colombo. Achinthaya also did well to come first at earlier chess contest held at Vidyartha College Kandy.

Chess Silver for Natasha


Roshell Natasha Askey of Ave Maria Convent Negombo (pictured here) was placed first runner-up (Under 7 girls) and was awarded the silver medal at the Fifth Asian Schools Chess Championships. Also in the picture is Rev. Sister Francine Muthugala, Principal Ave Maria Convent.
