Boteju retains snooker title - Jetwing St Andrews/HNB Snooker Tournament

Nimal de Silva of Grand Hotel Nuwara Eliya in action at the Jetwing St. Andrews/HNB 6 Ball Pot Ball Snooker tournament at Jetwing St. Andrews Hotel in Nuwara Eliya yesterday.
Susantha Boteju of YMCA retained the Jetwing St. Andrews/HNB snooker title with a convincing two frames to nil win over S.H.M. Aslam of MSC in the final played at the St. Andrews Hotel billiards table in Nuwara Eliya yesterday. It turned out to be a one sided affair as Boteju rattled his opponent with the minimum of fuss.

The 6 Ball Pot Ball Snooker tournament is conducted by Jetwing St. Andrews Hotel Nuwara Eliya and sponsored by Hatton National Bank for the second year. The tournament this time saw an increase of participants with 84 in the fray to last year’s 74. Due to the increase of entries some of the matches were conducted at the Grand Hotel N'Eliya.

The champion received a trophy and a cash award of Rs. 25,000/- with the runner-up getting a trophy and a cash award of Rs. 20,000/-

Silva (N'Eliya Lake Club) 57/10; Rohitha de Silva (SLPA) beat U. Jaliyagoda (Trout BC) 61/21; M.R.T. Chandana (YMBA) beat M. Rilwan (MICH) 34/21; Prasanna Pushpakumara (YMBA) beat A. Nandasiri (Trout BC) 44/17; Nimal de Silva (Grand Hotel N'Eliya) beat N. Hussain (Kandy) 38/15).

Quarter Finals - Susantha Boteju (YMBA) beat Nimal Jayantha (Trout BC) 2/0 (43/13, 31/14); Prasanna Pushpakumara (YMBA) beat M.R.T. Chandana (YMBA) 2/0 (42/23, 44/16); S.H.M. Aslam (MSC) beat Rohitha de Silva (SLPA) 2/0 (37/15, 44/17); M. Farshad (MICH) beat Nimal de Silva (Grand Hotel N'Eliya) 2/1 (37/35, 08/48, 33/15).

Semi Finals - S.H.M. Aslam (MSC) beat Prasanna Pushpakumara (YMBA) 2/0 (45/31, 31/26); Susantha Boteju (YMCA) beat M. Farshad (MICH) 2/0 (39/07, 52/06).
