CIMA Spellmaster reaches the ancient cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa

The twenty fifth competition in the series of the CIMA Spellmaster competitions being conducted islandwide was held in the historical cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa.

The competition in Anuradhapura took place at St.Joseph's College, where 30 students had to fight it out for only 14 places in the quarter finals. Out of the 6 schools that entered students for the competition, only 4 schools managed to secure a place in the quarters. Swarnapali Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Anuradhapura Central College and Walisinghe Harischandra Maha Vidyalaya had 4 students each seizing a place for the next round, while St.Joseph's College had 2 students qualifying. In Polonnaruwa, the competition was held at Ananda Balika Vidyalaya, where 3 students from the school secured a place for the quarter finals. The other school to qualify was Bakamuna Mahasen Central College, where 3 students pulled through to the next round.

With 6 qualifying from Polonnaruwa and 14 from Anuradhapura, the North Central Province will have 20 competitors participating at the quarter finals which would consist of 500 students from all the districts.
