Royal student shoots his way to national championship

A student or Royal College, Colombo, Kasun Karunaratne, won the men's junior air rifle gold medal at the national shooting championships - 2009 concluded this month at the Army Electronic Range, Panagoda.

Kasun Karunatne 18, accrued 552 points out of 600 in the 10m Air Rifle event to emerge the junior national champion while representing the Negombo Rifle Club.

Following his success at the national championships organised by the National Sports Shooting Federation, Kasun is now qualified to be considered to represent Sri Lanka at the Asian Air Gun Championships in Doha, Qatar.
