When you need to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle of the city and the pressures of modern living, unwind and relax come to Jetwing Ayurveda Pavilion situated amidst tropical gardens along the scenic western coastal belt of “Little Rome”.

Just 45 minute drive from Colombo you can unwind yourself with the traditional healing system of ayurveda based on the theory of balance between the body (physical), the soul (spiritual) and the mind (psychological).

Forget about strolling along the sun kissing beach and dipping in the sparkling blue waters of the Indian Ocean but take a chance to return to basics and feel that you are out of this world. One might wonder how it’s possible in the sunny city to escape to such tranquility, but if you walk into Ayurveda Pavilion you will begin to believe the wonder of nature in its soothing environment. One has the option to choose between relaxation and treatment as it is ready to cater to both giving priority to its “Happy Guest” concept.

The humble beginning of the Ayurveda Pavilion of the Jetwing family goes to 1997 with a two roomed spa at Blue Oceanic. The popular demand all over the world for the comprehensive health solutions offered by ayurveda has led to its inception in 2002. In no time European market had fallen in line with it.

Furthermore Ayurveda Pavilion has brought honour to the Sri Lankan hospitality industry, bagging the “World Travel Mart (WTM) award for Best Ayurveda Spa” in 2003 and 2006.

“The word “Ayuruveda” is derived from two words- “Ayus” meaning “life” and Veda meaning “knowledge” or “Science” So the literal meaning of the word ayurveda is “science of life” Life or Ayus, according to ayurveda is a combination of senses, mind, body and soul,” explained General Manager Ayurveda Pavilion Ms. Rookmanie Fernando who is also an expert on the subject.

“So ayurveda does not just limit itself to the body or physical symptoms but also provides comprehensive knowledge about spiritual, mental and emotional health. It is this type of first hand experience of ayurveda treatment we are offering at Jetwing Ayurveda Pavilion Negombo,” she said.

At a time when ayurveda treatment centres are growing like mushrooms due to commercialization, Ayurveda Pavilion works tirelessly to provide authentic ayurveda treatment.

The staff and management are ever ready to cater to any type of clientele. As you step into the premises you feel as if you are out of the sunny city with the sight of medicinal plants all over the place.

Passing the warmly welcoming reception along the short passage you will see the pool and restaurant and your left turn leads you to the 12 personal villas categorized as ‘King and Queen’. The small cement squares on the path are different from what you have usually seen while tree leaves pressed to leave behind their prints on it are also from its garden and are rare.

The exterior and interior design of Ayurveda Pavilion is very unique. On each door of the villa is the first Sinhala letter of a flower. If you choose treatment you will be attended to by the doctors at your own villa which comprises of a small garden, verandah, an area for treatment, spacious bed room and a bathroom equipped with all luxurious modern amenities.

The soothing music in the room takes away the weariness and relaxes you in no time. Once you walk in for treatment you are given a programme which is scheduled from 8am to 6pm according to the type of your treatment. A skin specialist and a gynaecologist handle the treatment.

The architectural designing is amazing with the separate treatment centre equipped with steam baths, places for oil treatment etc. On the other hand there’s no buffet as clients are served according to their treatment so they receive their food keeping on a par with their treatment.

With each item of food and drink a detailed slip which includes the common name of the food or drink, botanical name, Sanskrit name, its family and what it is recommend for are mentioned. Also clients are served organic food grown in its premises.

Rookmanie stated that it is pathetic that locals don’t have as much faith in ayurveda treatment as the foreigners. She added that their Recovery Package offers relaxation to patients after hospitalization and the patient feels that he or she has come on a holiday.

Even if you are staying at any other Jetwing hotel still you are privileged to experience ayurveda treatment at Ayurveda Pavilion as it is made possible with the free shuttle service. It’s a place you shouldn’t forget to drop in to if you want to rejuvenate yourself achieving internal harmony.
