Rotaract Club of University of Peradeniya

An opportunity for graduates to find jobs and be groomed to face the future

Rotaract Club of the University of Peradeniya is one of the most dynamic clubs in Rotary District 3220 - Sri lanka, as well as in the University of Peradeniya which is regarded as one of the best universities in the world. Rotaract Club consists of students from various faculties namely Medical, Eengineering, Dental, Arts, Science, Agriculture and Allied Health Sciences giving it a good blend in achieving the best.

Rotaract has four avenues, namely, professional development, community services, club services and international understanding. Being a university based club we always pay more attention to professional development, giving an opportunity for undergraduates to achieve goals in life through a good career.

A good example is the "Next step" project launched last year where we opened an internet job bank, providing a path for the qualified graduates to find jobs; and seminars on how one should be groomed to become successful in the competitive corporate sector.

When considering community services, it was a huge achievement when we chose a rural village in Anuradhapura, to improve their quality of life by providing them with medical care. Rikillagaskade project was another project where we spent a whole day with underprivileged estate children educating them about job opportunities, Nutrition and Health and we were able to bring out the creativity in them. We all enjoyed the day spent on a worthy cause.

To build up the friendship within the club we always try to plan out many getaways despite busy schedules with lectures and exams. An annual mini trip, the two day trip and Aftershock (a dinner dance in December to relieve the stress after the year end exams) are the most happening events lined up in the Rotaract calendar of the University of Peradeniya. We make close contacts with other Rataract clubs around the world; where they visit us and enjoy the scenic beauty and experience the cultural differences of the country and the university.

All in all we grow stronger day by day achieving the best together making our theme "MANY VOICES ONE STORY" a reality.

For further information or if you wish to help us on our efforts to serve our community, please contact club president Rtr.Chulanga Niriella on 071-8000129 or via emails chulanga.niriella@gmail.com
