Swim meet at Kingswood

The Kingswood Aquatic Club of Kingswood College Kandy will hold its 5th Annual Provincial Swimming Championship today at the Kingswood College swimming pool, under the patronage of the college Principal Mr. Ranjith Chandrasekera.

Contenders of 55 government and private schools of the central province will be taking part in the event.
Kingswood Aquatic club presently has a membership of 1000 past students and over 750 students from over 50 schools since the Aquatic Club commenced with the opening of its swimming pool in 2004. The number of members are steadily increasing with more than 50 other schools in the area being accommodated to benefit from this swimming pool.

The Centenary Committee of the Kingswood Union, with the visionary leadership of the present Principal of the Kingswood College, Mr. Ranjith Chandrasekera, built the swimming pool within the college premises, along with a state of the art language laboratory which is another first by Kingswood College.
Last year Trinity College emerged champions of the boys category while Kingswood College became runners-up. In the Girl’s category Mahamaya Girls College Kandy became champions while Hillwood Girls School were runners-up last year.

The event is sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd who are the main sponsors and Smithkline Beecham (pvt) Ltd who are co-sponsors. The Field Sales Manager for Nestle, Mr. Oliver Nanayakara will be the chief guest at the event.
