A 30% increase in tourists from the Middle East including Kuwait has been recorded since the end of the war, according to a press release from the Sri Lankan embassy in Kuwait which held a promotional event last week with the Minister of Tourism Promotion Faizer Mustapha.
During his visit from 12 to 14 October, Mr. Mustapha promoted Sri Lanka as a holiday destination. The press release stated that the Sri Lanka promotion was organized for members of the travel trade, media and well-wishers.
The embassy has launched several initiatives to promote Sri Lanka as a tourism destination as part of its promotional campaigns to attract tourists from the Middle East. Mr. Mustapha had expressed confidence that the people of Kuwait will take advantage of the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in Sri Lanka. |
